Good evening Welby Way families,
I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. I cannot wait to see everyone on Saturday at our annual POWW Monster Bash and Trunk or Treat from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. It is going to be an evening of family fun, games, food, and goodness. Candy donations are still being accepted in the office up until Friday. More information about the event can be found on the fliers attached and on the Welby Way and POWW website.
Fall Great Shake Drill - On Thursday following recess we will have our annual Great Shake Earthquake drill. The drill is expected to last about 45 minutes or more and during this time, the campus will be closed and phones will not be answered. If you have made an appointment for your child during this time, you will need to either reschedule or pick up your child prior to 10:30 am. Once all procedures for the drill are followed and all staff and students are accounted for the drill will end. This is a perfect time to discuss as a family the emergency procedures you have in place at home.
Governance/LSLC Meeting - At 3:00 pm on Thursday via zoom will be our October Governance/Local School Leadership Meeting. We will be reviewing our school's Safe School Plan along with reflecting on our earthquake drill held earlier that day. All are welcome to join.

eChoices Window Continues to be Open - The echoices application window continues to be open for charter and magnet applications – Nov. 17th. You will go goto.lausd.net to apply. If your child attends Welby Way as a charter student, you don't live in our area, and have an incoming sibling, don't forget to apply for the Welby Way lottery for the 2024 - 2025 school year during this on time application window. This will allow your child to be placed on the sibling lottery list. Also, if you are applying to the Welby Way magnet or a magnet for middle school you will also apply through eChoices website at goto.lausd.net.
Upcoming Events - Mark your calendars will have school portraits on Oct. 25th and 26th. More information to come as to the specific schedule for the grade levels and all orders will be placed online with our new photographer Cornerstone.
