I hope you are having a wonderful weekend as we head into the last two weeks of school and holiday season with many events on the calendar.
This Week:
Book Fair: Thank you to the many children who submitted a poster for the book fair poster contest and to the family members volunteering their time to make our annual Book Fair possible. The submitted book fair posters are absolutely amazing and so creative. I know selecting a winner has been a true challenge as winners will be announced on Monday. There will be one lower grade and one upper grade winner. The hours and activities for book fair are as follows below along with the link to set up your child's e-wallet. Enjoy!

Coffee with the Principal: On Thursday, Dec. 7th at 8:30 am, please join me and our neighborhood Council member John Lee for Coffee with the Principal. I will be discussing our district's next module on School Violence and Safety. This is wonderful time to meet our Council member and learn about all the wonderful things he does to support our community with resources and events.
New Music Teacher: This week we welcome our new music teacher, Ms. Pourmoradiam who will working with our TK, Kinder, and 2nd - 5th grade students on music and movements. Her goal is to bring in recorders for our upper grade students as they learn to read music and so much more. She is going to be a lovely asset to the Welby Way family. Currently our 1st graders have been working with the amazing, Mr. Lake from LAUSD for music instruction.
Winter Sing: 1st grade, Charter 3rd grade, and 5th grade parents, mark your calendar for our upcoming "Winter Sing" on Wednesday, Dec. 13th in the auditorium at 8:30 am and 1:15 pm. It is going to be a fabulous show as the students help us ring in the holiday season.
Traffic Safety: For the safety of our children and families, I ask that everyone slow down when picking up and dropping off your child, please make sure to stop at all stop signs, do not make u-turns in the middle of the street or at the stop signs, and stay off your phone when dropping off or picking up your child. I also ask that everyone follow traffic safety rules at all time and if we can all work together and remember this, everyone can remain safe. Thank you.
Future Dates:
Food Drive: Our 5th grade parent leads are working to organize a food drive along the Boys and Girls Club in Canoga Park to help those in need for the holidays. We will be asking for various food donations per grade. More information and specifics to come.
Winter Break - No School: There will be no school for the winter break Dec. 18th - Jan. 5th with the last day of school being Friday, Dec. 15th with regular dismissal. We return from break on Monday, Jan. 8th.
