8:30 - 9:15 am Magnet Orientation in the auditorium – If you are new to the Magnet or Welby Way, please join us on Thursday, August 8th at 8:30 am in the auditorium to learn about our school and 1st day procedures.

***PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THIS NEW FOOD/LUNCH POLICY FOR ALL STUDENTS***

New District Lunch Procedures:  Due to change in district policy, this school year the office will no longer be accepting late lunch drop off in the office.  The cafeteria serves free snack at recess and lunch to all students at no charge.  If a student forgets their lunch, all students are able to eat lunch from the cafeteria.

School Supply Lists - To best prepare your child for the start of the school year, grade level supply lists and procedures are provided on our Welby Way website per grade level.
School Volunteers

  • An online application must be filled out to begin the process for the 2024 -25 school year -  You can access this via online at  volunteerapp.lausd.net   Everyone, even if previously processed last year or the year before must complete a new application each school year. All parents walking onto campus to volunteer, attend a school sponsored event, or attend a field trip must be processed for this school year. The one day volunteer pass is not an option and is no longer available.
  • **Please be sure to bring a hard copy of the application to the office.  All new volunteers must also include a copy of the most recent TB test.

  • We are encouraging all parents who intend to come on campus at any point during the new school year to get processed early in the year. Processing can take 30+ days, so getting processed with the intent to go on a field trip a week later will not be an option.  Volunteering is also at the discretion of your child's teacher. You should coordinate with your teacher and or your room parent in the fall to find out what is needed and plan accordingly. Unless you have prearranged to be on campus for a classroom activity or some other prescheduled event for your child's class, you will not be allowed on campus to volunteer unless processed. Please note if you are a district employee you still need to be processed. If you have other students at other schools in LAUSD you must be processed at each school site.

  • If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to Laura Klein - Community Representative [email protected]. Please see the information below for step by step directions for how to become a volunteer.

After School Child Care Programs – Applications for  After School Day Care (TK – 1st at a fee)/KYDS (TK – 5th grade no fee)/YS 2nd – 5th no fee) applications are available in the office on a first come first serve basis according to space. Please be sure to submit your application early to ensure your child has a spot in one of the after school programs.

I hope you all have a wonderful remainder of the summer.  I truly look forward to seeing you on Friday, August 9th for the Welcome Back to School event and then on the first day of school – Monday, August 12th.  It is going to be a productive and positive school year for all.  Be well.

Your Welby Way Principal,

Mrs. DaCorsi
