I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend as we head into our "Start with Hello Week!" where we will focus on wellness and including all of our students on the yard and in the classroom. Johanna, our wellness counselor, will be working with all students this week to promote positive interactions, unity, being an upstander, and finding a trusted adult when needing assistance. We will be celebrating this week with a kick off assembly on Monday for all students and asking everyone to wear green on Wednesday as a symbol of "Unity." Let's all work together to ensure all of our students have a voice and are included so no one sits alone. Together we are empowering students to end social isolation!
Last Day for Spirit Wear: Welby Online Spirit Store - Don't forget to order your Welby Way Spirit gear that is ending on Monday, September 16th at 12 noon. You can visit the Online Spirit Store at https://www.untopable.com/welbyway. Check out the website as there are so many new and fun designs to choose from and all orders will be delivered to the school.
Earthquake Kits: This week will be putting all student earthquake kits in our emergency bin on Tuesday. With all our recent earthquake activity and to ensure your child is prepared in the case of an emergency, please ensure your child has turned in their earthquake no later than first thing Tuesday morning for it to be included in the emergency bin.
POWW Meeting and Mixer: All families are invited to the POWW Mixer at 8:05 am on Wednesday followed by the POWW Board Meeting. I hope you are able to come out and meet fellow Welby Way families, learn about upcoming events, and how to get involved. There will be coffee and goodies. We all hope to see you there.
5th Grade Parent Meeting: All 5th grade families, please be sure to join the 5th grade teachers, Mrs. Kearns, and me for our 5th Grade Parent Meeting on zoom on Wednesday, Sept. 17th at 6:00 pm. We will be reviewing information for the transition to middle school, applying for magnets, Pali Camp, and the general time line of events for the school year. Charter/Magnet Tours: This week will start our first school tours for any families interested in applying or coming to Welby Way for the future 2025 – 26 school year. Our charter tour will be on Thursday at 8:30 am and magnet tour at 8:30 am on Friday. All families must check in at the main office and please know that tours are for parents only. No children are permitted.
POWW Movie Night: Be sure to join everyone on Friday for our rescheduled POWW Movie Night for Trolls. This is going to be a fun family evening under the stars with fun, food, and positive memories. Be sure to visit the POWW website at https://parentsofwelbyway.com/ to purchase your tickets in advance All children must be accompanied with an adult. This is not a drop off event and the event will begin at 6:00 pm with the movie starting closer to 7:00 pm.
