Monday:
October ELAC Meeting: On Monday at 3:15 pm via zoom Mrs. Vallin will be hosting the monthly ELAC meeting for our Emerging Bilingual (EB) families. She will be contacting families directly though all are invited.
Tuesday:
POWW Meeting: At 6:30 pm POWW (please note this is an evening meeting) is hosting the October POWW meeting for all to attend. They will be discussing the upcoming Trunk or Treat/Boo Bash and our current Annual Giving Champaign.
Wednesday:
3rd - 5th Grade Picture Day: We will have our school portraits with Cornerstone for 3rd - 5th grade students on Wednesday in the library. A flier was sent home this week regarding procedures for ordering photos. All orders are to be placed online and will be delivered to your home.
5th Grade Middle School Evening: 5th grade families please be sure to join the Middle School Parent Meeting at 5:30 pm via zoom. We will be hosting Woodland Hills Academy, Hale Middle School, and Lawrence Middle School, who will be presenting information about their programs, enrollment, and help explain if their school would be a great fit for your future middle schooler. Thursday:

Field Trip: Rooms 10, 15, & 34 will be going on a field trip to Petty Ranch for the day. This year the district is requiring that a field trip slip and health form be completed for each field trip. Please be sure your child has submitted the required paperwork at attend.
TK - 2nd Grade Marionette Show: On Thursday from 3:00 - 4:00 pm in the auditorium we will have our free "Hilarious Halloween Haunt" marionette show for the 80 TK - 2nd grade students whose parent completed the google invite form and received a confirmation email. The confirmation email will be sent out on Monday to the 80 confirmed families and students must be on the list to be able to attend the show on Thursday. I hope they enjoy.
Friday:
Charter/Magnet Tours: On Friday will be our next school tour for families interested in applying or coming to Welby Way for the 2025 – 26 school year. All families must check in at the main office and please know that tours are for parents only. No children are permitted.
POWW and Future Events:
POWW is collecting donations for the Trunk or Treat & Boo Bash! Bags of candy can be dropped in/"fed" to the candy "monster" box in the office or you can donate $5 at Pay4SchoolStuff.com. We have also created an Amazon Wishlist (https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3LUEKSW4UHT0F?ref_=wl_share) for items, as well as candy, that are needed for this event. We appreciate any contributions in making this event a huge success.
Trunk or Treat and Boo Bash: I can't wait to see you all at the Annual POWW Trunk or Treat and Boo Bash on Saturday, Oct. 26th from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. I look forward to an evening of fun with games, dancing, costumes, a haunted maze, and so much more.
Halloween Parade: We will have our annual Halloween Parade on the yard for families and students on Thursday, Oct. 31st at 8:15 am. Students will be permitted to wear their school appropriate costume to school and then bring clothes to change into following the parade. Students may not bring any weapons (swords, knives, or guns) to school as part of their costume or wear masks or costumes that cover their face. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
The CHOICES application period is open through Nov 15th for the next school year. If we are not your school of residence and you will have incoming students next school year or you are interested and your child qualifies for the magnet, please make sure you apply for the lottery and/or magnet using the link below or go to goto.lausd.net. This also applies for families interested in attending a different middle school than the middle school in your area.
