Weekly News #12 - October 28 - November 1, 2024

It was wonderful to see so many families at the spooky and fun Boo Bash and Trunk or Treat.   The many volunteers and record number of trunks this year is beyond appreciated and truly helped to make the event a huge success.  Also, all 5th grade families who came together for set up, clean up, and support with the haunted maze was incredible.  The creativity and hard work was amazing!  Every one's time and dedication is beyond appreciated.   Lastly, THANK YOU to POWW for making this event so memorable and possible.  Everyone looked so festive and seemed to have had an absolute blast.   GO Dodgers with another win!  Another success to the evening.

LOST and FOUND - With the changing weather our lost and found is piling up once again.   Please stop by the front of the school to retrieve any of your child's lost clothing and lunch items.    Also, please be sure to label all your student's items (backpack, lunch box, water bottle, and jackets) so they can be returned to the student.  Thank you.

Halloween Parade:  We will have our annual Halloween Parade on the yard for families and students on Thursday, Oct. 31st at 8:15 am.   Students will be permitted to wear their school appropriate costume to school and then bring clothes to change into following the parade.  Students may not bring any weapons (swords, knives, or guns) to school as part of their costume or wear masks or costumes that covers their face.  Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Classroom Volunteers following the parade:  If you are preapproval with your child's teacher (a list will be provided to the office from all teachers and your name must be on it) to assist with any Halloween festivities following the parade, you MUST check in with the main office prior to the parade to sign in and receive your Welby Way visitor badge.  Teachers will not permit any family members or volunteers into the classroom that morning without a visit badge and who have not signed up previously.  Lastly, no siblings or non-Welby or non-LAUSD students will be permitted in classrooms and volunteers are only allowed to assist in the classroom they are assigned to and may not visit the classroom of your other child unless you have signed up for it.   I truly thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this.

Odyssey of the Mind: We are gearing up for our next Odyssey of the Mind teams for this school year.   For those students and families who submitted their interest form on time (there are no exceptions for late entries as space is limited), Friday after school at 2:45 pm will be the mandated, Parent and Student Meeting.  Parents may meet their child at the front gate and the meeting will be in the auditorium.
