Good evening Welby Way families,
I hope you are all having a wonderful three day weekend and everyone continues to be safe and well. Reminder that there is no school tomorrow, Monday the 20th, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as we pay respect to him and his pursuit of equality for all. School will resume on Tuesday with regular Tuesday 1:30 pm dismissal as we prepare for a busy week ahead.
This Week:
POWW Meeting: This Tuesday at 8:05 am in room 40 POWW will be hosting their February meeting. All are welcome to participate.
Chuck E. Cheese Fundraiser: On Wednesday from 3:00 - 9:00 pm POWW is hosting a restaurant night fundraiser at Chuck E. Cheese on Vanowen where they will be donating 20% of the proceeds back to Welby Way. Save having to make dinner and enjoy a family night out while supporting our school. See the attached flyer for more detail and discounts.
Parent Sound Bath Workshop: Reminder this Thursday at 8:30 am in the auditorium, we will our Community Parent Sound Bath. Space is limited and you must RSVPed in advance. If so, please be sure to dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat or towel/blanket. It is going to be an amazingly relaxing morning.
Welby Way Spelling Bee: This Thursday we will have our Welby Way Spelling Bee in grades 1st - 5th in the auditorium. Parents of the our spelling bee students are invited to participate and can check in at the main office. Classroom teachers will notify parents of the specific times for those children participating. I wish all students the best of luck as we determine our finalists for the upcoming Region North Scripps Spelling Bee.
Welby Way Spirit Day: This Friday is our next spirit day with crazy hat day. Students are encouraged to come to school with school appropriate and creative hats for the day. I can't wait to see all the creativity.
After School Enrichment Classes: All after school enrichment classes including cheer continue this week as regularly scheduled. FocusFish theater will be starting this Wednesday in room 35.
Are You Returning in the Fall: Thank you to the many who have already completed the "Are You Returning Form." To assist us with preparing for next school year, it is helpful to know your plans for the new school year. It also helps us to know if you will have younger siblings enrolling for the fall. Please take a moment to complete the survey using the link below to let us know your plans. If your child is in 5th grade and you are not enrolling a younger sibling, there is no need to complete this. I truly thank you for your time and input..

Future Dates: In honor of President's Day, there will be no school on Monday, February 17th.
