Weekly News #22 - February 3rd - 7th, 2025

Good evening Welby Way families,

I hope you are having a wonderful and safe weekend.   I truly want to thank the many families who donated art supplies this last week to support those children who attend the Palisades Recreational Center and suffered a great loss with the recent fires.  On Friday our parent who runs the recreation center picked up the donations and was extremely appreciative as everything filled her entire car.  I know these donations will brighten the day of the children and allow them to recreate some of what was lost.

Traffic Safety:  This week I am extremely sorry to share that we had two minor accidents during morning drop off.   We MUST work together to slow down and follow traffic rules to keep our students and families safe when dropping off and picking up your student.  DO NOT pull around other cars who are stopping to park, do not speed around school, do not drop your child off in front of the cones or at the red curb.  Dropping your child off from the middle of the street or allowing them to cross from the opposite curb is NOT PERMITTED.  All families must use the cross walk to ensure their safety.   Do not park in the red zone or church parking lot, in our neighbors’ driveways or park in front of the cones.   I need everyone to slow down and to follow all traffic rules to avoid future situations and tickets from law enforcement who will be asked to patrol the school more often.  We must all work together to ensure our students arrive and go home safely.  I truly thank you for your attention to this.

Future Dates:  There will be no School on Monday, Feb 17th in honor of Presidents Day.

Charter Lottery:   On Friday, February 14th at 10:00 am we will be holding our annual Charter Lottery in room 40.  Lottery students will be sorted by their ID number for confidential reasons and please know that you do not need to be present for be offered a spot at Welby Way.

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe weekend and evening.  Thank you for your continued support and partnership.  This is all for now.

Your Welby Way Principal,

Mrs. DaCorsi
