Good evening Welby Way families,
Thank you, parents, for helping us have such a successful first two days of school! It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces coming through the gates, in classrooms, and out on the yard. Our teachers worked hard to prepare welcoming classrooms, set clear expectations, and establish strong routines for the year ahead for our students.
This week we start our second week of school with a full week of school and our first weekly Monday Morning Assembly on the yard where our families are welcome to join each week. We will all participate in the flag salute, students will present our various character traits throughout the year, and share their various cultures, traditions, and holidays. This is our new tradition to work together as a community. POWW will also be present this week selling Welby Way spirit gear. I look forward to seeing you there!
Monday Morning Assembly – Important Details
-
When: Monday, right after the 8:01 a.m. bell
-
Parent Entry: Parents may enter through the front gate or either Callicott gate just before the bell.
-
Special Feature this week: Mrs. Bravo’s class will lead the flag salute.
-
Parent Exit: After the assembly, parents will exit through the same gates immediately following the assembly and may not walk to class with their child.
-
Volunteers: If you are volunteering on campus or in the classroom, all parents must exit the gate and re-enter via the office to sign in after the assembly. Volunteers may not go directly to classrooms from the yard.
Also on Monday, we will hold our Beginning of the Year Discipline Assembly for students. I will be reviewing the importance of being a respectful, responsible, safe, and kind scholar throughout the school day and across our campus. We will be implementing a new school wide discipline policy that allows students the opportunity to reflect on their choices and grow from their experiences. More information to come.
POWW: On Tuesday morning following the bell, POWW will have their beginning of the year POWW Mixer in the auditorium. Everyone is welcome and this is a wonderful time to have a cup of coffee, treat, and get to know other families. Check out the POWW website or attached flier for more details.
I appreciate your partnership in ensuring your child is at school every day and on time — this consistency is key to their success. This school year attendance will be monitored closely monitored monthly as the goal is have our students not exceed 7 absences throughout school year or reporting period.
Together, we are off to a strong start, and I look forward to all the learning and growth this year will bring. I also thank you for the gift of your child and opportunity to learn and work together. I hope you have a wonderful evening and remainder of the weekend. This is all for now.
Your Welby Way Principal,
Mrs. DaCorsi
