Weekly News #20

Good evening Welby Way Families,

I hope you are all enjoying the long three-day weekend as we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. There will be no school tomorrow (Monday) in observance of this important day. Our regular Monday Morning Assembly will resume next week, when Mrs. Anderson’s class will lead a special presentation celebrating Dr. King’s message of equality and unity.

🗓️ This Week at Welby Way

Parent Meeting:
All families are invited to join a Special Education Parent Presentation on the IEP process with our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Thompson, on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in the STEAM Lab. Coffee and goodies will be served, and all participants should check in at the main office.

Honor Awards Assembly:
This Thursday, we will recognize our next group of outstanding students at our monthly Honor Awards Assembly. If your child is receiving an award, your child’s teacher will reach out to notify you via email or phone call.

Spirit Day:
This Friday is our next Welby Way Spirit Day! Students are encouraged to wear any school-appropriate Disney gear—hats, scarves, shirts, or jackets. I can’t wait to see all the school spirit and creativity!

📅 Looking Ahead

Our annual Charter Lottery for the 2026–2027 school year will take place on Friday, February 6th, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 40. Families do not need to be present to be accepted on the lottery. Lottery results will be posted on our website by student lottery number, and official acceptance notifications for both the Charter and Magnet programs will be sent out in mid-March.

Please also mark your calendars for Monday, February 16th, as there will be no school in honor of Presidents’ Day.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend and the extra day off tomorrow with your family. Thank you for your continued partnership and for the gift of your children—each one makes Welby Way such a special place.  This is all for now.
