Good evening Welby Way families,
I hope you are all having a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable weekend as we move into the final eight days of the school year. As a reminder, we will have our weekly Monday Morning Assembly tomorrow with brief updates and announcements.
I want to sincerely thank all of our families who attended our 1st Annual Cultural Fair on Friday evening. Many of our families and staff worked extremely hard to bring everything together and represent the various backgrounds and cultures that make Welby Way such a special and diverse school community. It was truly a wonderful evening filled with togetherness, celebration, and lasting memories.
This Week at Welby Way
☕ Volunteer Brunch
Tomorrow morning, we will honor our many volunteers at our annual Volunteer Brunch as we say, "Thanks a Latte!" from 9:30–10:30 a.m.
To all of our approved family volunteers, thank you for helping make our classrooms and school the incredible place that it is. Your time, support, and dedication make a tremendous difference for our students and staff. Please remember to check in through the main office upon arrival.
🎶 Orchestra Performance
On Tuesday, our 3rd grade classes will perform in the auditorium with their recorders. Families are welcome to attend and should enter through the back of the auditorium. Please check with your child's classroom teacher for the specific performance time.
🏕️ Point Fermin Camp
On Wednesday, a group of our 4th grade students will depart for Point Fermin Camp for three days and two nights with Ms. Awad and Mrs. Bravo. Students should report to school at the regular start of the day and check in with their classroom teacher before departing.
🎭 Classroom Performances
Several of our 1st and 2nd grade classrooms will be holding classroom performances this week.
These performances are intended for parents and adult family members only. We kindly ask that younger, non-Welby Way children not attend. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Wednesday
• 8:15 a.m. / 1:30 p.m. – Rumpus in the Rainforest (Room 12, in-class performance)
• 8:30 a.m. / 1:45 p.m. – Hansel and Gretel (Room 11, in-class performance)
• 5:00 p.m. – Mrs. Boyle's Rumpus in the Rainforest Presentation
Friday, June 5
• 8:00 a.m. – Family Poetry Celebration (Selman)
• 9:00 a.m. – Family Poetry Celebration (Baca)
⏰ Minimum Day – Friday, June 5
Friday will be a minimum day with dismissal at 12:50 p.m. for all students.
If your child is not enrolled in PEAK, Youth Services, or KYDS, they must be picked up promptly at dismissal, as no additional childcare will be available.
Future Dates
🎓 5th Grade Culmination
Our 5th Grade Culmination Ceremonies will take place on Tuesday, June 9:
• 8:30 a.m. – Magnet
• 10:30 a.m. – Charter
🏫 Last Day of School
The final day of the 2025–2026 school year will be Wednesday, June 10.
⏰ Minimum Day Dismissals – 12:50 p.m.
Minimum day dismissal will take place on:
• Friday, June 5
• Monday, June 8
• Wednesday, June 10
Please note that Tuesday, June 9, will remain a regular dismissal day at 1:30 p.m.
🌟 First Day of School – 2026–2027
The first day of school for the 2026–2027 school year will be Wednesday, August 12. After-school daycare applications will become available in the office in mid-July.
