What is MAKING MOVIES THAT MATTER? MMTM is a program at Welby Way that works with our 5th graders to identify issues and topics that resonate with them and to have that passion manifest itself in films that move people and make a difference in the world around them!

This experience is driven by a wonderful collaboration between Council member John Lee, a team of artists, several community partners such as the Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), and Valley Relics Museum and of course, our students!

At the end of the year, students showcase their movies at a film festival at the Soraya Performing Arts Center on the campus of Cal State University, Northridge (CSUN). Through the MMTM project process, students are introduced to the art of digital storytelling and provided critical mentoring and technical support to ensure program efficacy and success!
