How to Volunteer

A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL DACORSI

We are looking forward to having so many wonderful new and returning, this year. Please follow the process below in order to become a Welby Way Elementary School Volunteer. To help clarify the process, the final approval of the application comes from the Family and Community Engagement department at the district and not Welby Way. While you are waiting for district approval you are welcome to sign back into your volunteer application account to see where the application is in the process (ie, pending, vaccination review, etc.). As a reminder the final approval does not come from Welby Way, but rather an email from LAUSD with their temporary pass.  Please be sure to keep an eye out on your emails if you have applied to be an LAUSD Volunteer.  We look forward to your support and time as we work together this school year.

STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE

  1. Fill out an application on the LAUSD's Volunteer Management System.
  2. Print, sign, and bring the application to the office.
  3. Sign the Volunteer Contract - a copy will pop up once you have filled out the application on the volunteer management system. There will be an option to print out two documents. This is one of them. Sign and bring this document in as well.
  4. TB TEST - a new TB test must be completed every 4 years. If you are a new volunteers that is submitting your TB test results they must be from the last 60 days.
  5. Covid Vaccine Record - Please upload your COVID vaccination record to Daily Pass.

All the documents listed above may be brought to the office or emailed to Laura Klein. Once you have been completely processed, we will contact to let you know when you are ready to start volunteering.

When Coming to School once you are a Processed Volunteer...

  • COME INTO THE OFFICE AND SIGN IN UNDER YOUR NAME IN THE VOLUNTEER BOOK. THEN YOU WILL BE GIVEN A PASS.

  • WHEN YOUR VOLUNTEER BADGE IS READY, WE WILL SEND IT HOME WITH YOUR CHILD AND YOU CAN WEAR THIS!

  • *NOTE – AT THIS TIME A NEGATIVE COVID TEST IS NOT NEEDED. PROTOCOLS CAN CHANGE, SO PLEASE KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR UPDATES.
